Why Do I Love Teaching?

Isn't it obvious? My students get to sing like they never have. They get to perform when they've been too scared to before. They get to express themselves through song like they haven't before. They get to share their gift with their families and friends. Learning to sing makes them feel good. Singing their favourite songs make them so happy.

I teach people how to sing. For a living. For real. That's my job. I have the best and sometimes weirdest job in the world. We make silly noises, and silly faces, and make lots of mistakes, all the the safety of my studio. I teach mostly adults, who are really good at their jobs, but who are humble enough to bring themselves to a singing lesson, and sound 'not good enough' and sometimes even feel embarrassed in front of me, week after week. I think it's incredible to be honest. I love their humility and their willingness to learn.

Hearing the improvement week after week is amazing. It's so inspiring and uplifitnig, I don't know why more people don't dive in and take lessons with a coach. It's a much faster and more thrilling way to learn singing, rather than from youtube or an app. Those resources are amazing, but at some point, you need someone to guide you; to listen to you to make sure you're doing everything right so you can improve - and do all of this without strain and getting frustrated!

This is what I can do for you as a coach (not in this particular order)

  1. Improve pitch

  2. Improve vocal range

  3. Gain a belt voice

  4. Gain strength through the middle of the voice

  5. Breath control

  6. Learn how to warm up your voice

  7. How to find your own unique voice

  8. Melismas - riffs and runs

  9. Learn about different vocal tones by looking at other singers and experimenting with your own voice

  10. Volume control and the use of dynamics

  11. Insights into the gigging world

  12. Get over stage fright and performance anxiety

  13. Access open mics and jams

  14. Gain an understanding of music theory

  15. Gain an understanding of the music business

  16. Learn how to work with musicians

  17. Learn about music theory and the keys of songs

  18. Learn guitar and piano accompaniment

  19. Learn how to perform on stage and use a microphone

  20. and more!

Have you ever wondered 'how do i improve my voice?' or 'How do i sing high notes?' or 'how to sing like Christina Aguilera' - then, look no further. Ask me - or someone - to coach you and you'll finally get the answers you've been looking for.

And don't forget to smile while you're doing it :)

Peace, love and singing
